Launching of The Organic Waste Recycling Initiative at The KJA Project

On 16th June 2023, Kinarya together with its parent company, PT Petrosea Tbk (Petrosea), held a launching event for the organic waste recycling initiative at the Petrosea - Kideco Jaya Agung (KJA) project located in Paser, East Kalimantan.

This food waste recycling initiative has become one of the ESG priorities at the Petrosea - KJA project, considering that an average of 250 kg of food waste is produced each day. Meanwhile the potential carbon emission reduction from managing food waste through this program is around 66.9 tons CO2eq/year. In carrying out this initiative, Kinarya utilize the latest technology which is able to process organic waste or food waste into compost in just 1x24 hours.

The launch event was attended by representatives from Petrosea’s management, PT Kideco Jaya Agung as the client, as well as KJA partners in charge of operations (PT Dum & PT Pama). During her speech on behalf of Petrosea’s management, Ibu Bita Budiarini as Human Capital & General Services Director said that this launch is a concrete manifestation of one of Petrosea’s ESG commitments, specifically its commitment towards the environment by recycling organic waste. It is hoped that in the future this initiative will also be implemented by Petrosea and Kinarya at other Company projects.

Bapak Dewa Nyoman Sumadi Jaya as GM Strategy and Project Delivery Services Petrosea at the KJA project also said that the compost produced through this initiative will later be used for various plants around the Petrosea mess environment, as well as by the farmer groups assisted by Petrosea's CSR in the KJA project as fertilizer for fruit and vegetable plants. Meanwhile, Bapak Aris Bastian as Deputy Head of Mine Engineering at PT Kideco Jaya Agung expressed his appreciation towards this initiative carried out by Petrosea & Kinarya, and hopes that it will become an example for all other partners.

During this launching event, the attendees were shown firsthand the waste recycling process which was carried out by the team from Petrosea and Kinarya. In fact, attendees could even try to put organic waste directly into the machine which was then processed into compost. The event was closed by tree planting activities around Petrosea’s mess which utilized compost which was previously produced from the organic waste recycling process.
